Park Bo-gum Addresses Screen Time Cut in “When Life Gives You Tangerines”, “I Already Knew About It”

Recently, an interview between Park Bo-gum, who recently appeared in Netflix’s “When Life Gives You Tangerines“, and iMBC Entertainment was conducted. During the interview, the fact that Park Bo-gum’s screen time was few, leading to disappointment among fans and viewers, was brought up.
To this, Park Bo-gum responded, “I already knew about it (the lack of screentime) and decided to participated. I’m grateful that you like and miss my character, Gwan-sik, that much. More than anything else, I thought this was a work that I really wanted to do after reading the writer’s writing. Just leaving it in my filmography was meaningful in itself.”

He also continued, “This drama is not a work in which one person is the main character, but a work in which the cast, seniors and juniors, are all the main characters. I hope that it will bloom beautiful flowers in the hearts of many people until the end.”
Then, when asked about his screen time in the remaining Act 4 of “When Life Gives You Tangerines“, Park Bo-gum answered, “The character Gwan-sik that I played will appear in the 4th act as well. I will appear enough to be memorable so that you won’t be disappointed. I will appear enough that you will remember and say, ‘Oh yeah, there was a young Gwan-sik’.”

He continued, “Gwan-sik is gold. Gold does not change. The young Gwan-sik is middle-aged Gwan-sik. Therefore, the middle-aged Gwan-sik is no different from the young Gwan-sik. Gwan-sik is Gwan-sik.”
Meanwhile, previously on March 22, IU’s official channel released a video with Park Bo-gum, where IU and Park Bo-gum discussed their experiences filming the Netflix series.

IU revealed that she had watched up to episode 13 the previous night and was deeply moved, saying, “I cried so much. Seeing scenes I hadn’t before, especially as Ae-soon and Gwan-sik grow older, made me tear up.”
Park Bo-gum expressed gratitude for the drama, stating, “All the characters are alive and well-developed. I’m really thankful and proud.”
Regarding audience reactions, he shared, “Many people congratulated me but also wished there were more scenes of my buzz-cut days and Ae-soon’s short bob era. The story quickly moves into our roles as parents, but I tell my friends to keep watching because we still appear throughout.”

IU agreed, emphasizing that their younger versions continue to be featured in flashbacks, adding, “Our storytelling approach is unique. Even from episode one, the first scene starts with the older Ae-soon. For those who miss our younger selves, we’re still there, so please stay with us until the end.”
